When I first read the story, I honestly thought it simply could not be true. After all, why on earth would it be necessary to taser a young man with a broken back even once, much less 19 times?
Unfortunately, the story is true, and the Ozark police apparently really did think it was necessary to taser a young man 19 times who had fallen from an overpass, broken his back, as well as his heel, in order to subdue him.
What struck me most when I later found and watched the news video, was seeing Capt. Thomas Rousset stand in front of the cameras and claim the tasers had to be used because the young man was making incoherent statements, that apparently included, “Shoot cops. Kill cops.” My question is, was he making those statements before, during, or after the tasering?
