A better informed blonde

I am enjoying getting back in the groove of being a better informed blonde. I am so dog gone well informed, I even know there is a Labrador dog running for mayor of Fairhope, Alabama. And to further improve and inform my little blonde mind, I now am watching informative videos about things that interest me. Especially things like evolution and extinction. Evolution and extinction are sort of two sides of the same coin in as much as plants and animals that do not evolve with the times, often wind up extinct. Sadly, the impact humans have had on earth has made evolving fast enough to keep up the changes we have brought about impossible for many plants and animals. I can only hope that if there ever comes a day when we all gain complete use and control of our amazing human brains, there will still be an abundance of plants and animals for those amazing brains to experience and enjoy.

Sometimes, I think the great leaps and bounds we have taken in technology are going to wind up making it impossible for humans to evolve quickly enough to withstand our own impact on this world. When I stop and think about all the technological advances I have seen in my lifetime, I can’t help but feel that what the scientists say about us only using a small percent of our brain must be true. Perhaps the “unused” larger percentage was put there to help our minds deal with these radically changing technological times the little part of our brain thought up. And do we really want to imagine what we could do to the world via technology if we ever do figure out how to put 100% of our amazing brain to work? Would using that full percent of our potential be our saving grace? Or our ultimate destruction? Is there a “logical reason” The Powers That Be only allow humans to use a small percentage of our amazing brains? Maybe They really do know what’s best for us?

It’s not all about dogs running for mayor and the theories of evolution and extinction though. I also keep informed about women’s issues through some of my RSS feeds and social bookmarking sites. I recently pondered these questions asked by the staff of Fabulously 40 & beyond. How did you feel when you turned 40? Was it exciting, scary, emotional, or another feeling you just have to get out of your system? Has your view on being 40 changed today? I’m not sure how the staff is going to feel about my reply their well thought out questions. I had fun answering their questions though. To see my reply Click Here

If there is one thing life has taught me on this now 50 year journey, it is to always take the time have a little fun along the way. If one can learn while one is having fun, then that is an added bonus. I had two such bonuses recently when I discovered the Top 10 legal things you can do if find yourself holding a jar of salt. If you click on that link, be sure and check out what you can do with baby oil, toothpicks and vaseline as well. I really had no idea of the many legal and non perverted uses there were for vaseline, and baby oil. Or perhaps I once did, but have forgotten.

And last but not least, there has been some new additions to Musings From The Bottle. What began as Random Thoughts in BBs Blog was moved to the main page, and became Mini Musings. That new section will contain my random thoughts, as well other brief words of wisdom and wit. The Witchy Woman section Now has a Word Witchery addition that will contain among other things, my feeble attempts at poetry.

So that’s what persecution really is?

According to an article in the Christian Newswire, anyone who insists on refusing to allow Christians to proselytise to them, is persecuting Christians. That’s right, according to that article if you do not allow a Christian to tell you all about his or her One True God, you my friend are now guilty of persecution of a Christian. I guess I’m going to be guilty as sin of persecuting Christians who try to convert me because you see I happen to believe that proselytizing is actually as close to a sin as it gets in my books. I’m one of those dastardly radicals who thinks people should be left the hell alone to believe in whatever they want to.

I’m also the kind of fruitcake who thinks if everyone would really and truly leave others alone when it comes to their religious beliefs, we would have a LOT less wars and general persecution going on. That’s why I will continue to politely “persecute” Christians, or anyone else for that matter who tries to convert me to their particular religious belief. I will begin my “persecution” of them by telling them I’m really not interested in hearing about their beliefs since I have a set of my own that serves me well. If a polite “persecution” doesn’t work, then I will have to resort to being really mean, and tell them to, “Kindly piss off. Oh and have a nice day while you’re at it.” Unfortunately I’ve discovered that the more dedicated to the cause of conversion the person trying to bend my ear about their Great God is, the more likely it is I am going to have be really mean before it’s over.

The funny thing is, I always thought true persecution was when you started doing things like burning people at the stake for being witches, throwing them to the lions for being Christians, or gassing them for being Jewish. Who would have ever thought the day would come when simply refusing to listen to someone trying to convert you to a belief that is different from yours, would be called “persecution” by some? Me really thinks the people who are trying to say that refusing to listen quietly to their attempts to proselytize is persecution, need to do a reality check here. Just saying, “No thanks, I don’t want to hear what you have to say about your religious beliefs because it goes against what I believe.” isn’t persecution. It’s called Freedom Of Religion. Telling them to “Kindly piss off. Oh and have a nice day while you’re at it.” may be bad manners in the books of some, but it isn’t persecution either.

And does this mean that if a Muslim, or Pagan, or someone who is not Christian insists on telling a Christian about their beliefs, it is persecution of the other party if the Christian refuses to listen? Am I also persecuting telemarketers when I say, “I’m not interested.” right before I hang up on them? What if the telemarketer is a Christian selling bibles or gold crosses? Do I get two persecution strikes against me for just saying, “I’m not interested.” and hanging up?

How can this happen?

Okay I am sitting here with my mouth hanging open and my mind whirling in disbelief that a man convicted of 13 counts, including child abuse, molestation, and lewd battery is out on bail awaiting his appeals trial. I urge everyone to PLEASE follow the link below and read this story if you haven’t already done so. Call me a dreamer, or idiot, or whatever, but in my humble opinion, this just shouldn’t be happening!

The muse and I are at a loss for words to describe how disgusted we are at the judge who allowed this convicted child molester back out on a post conviction bond. And those who know me and the muse know that doesn’t happen very often. Actually, I have a lot words popping to mind right now, but they are all expletatives not suitable for general viewing.

Morris and I do commend CNN for their investigation into this incident. Sadly, they seem to be doing a better job of watching out for our kids than the Florida Justice System is.

I can always re-cross my legs

I’ve recently read two stories about Dame Helen Mirren that have made me feel a whole lot better about being a “Mature Woman”. The first story was all about her daring to wear a bikini at age 62, and how she looked in said bikini. I think the bikini was very stylish, and she looked positively marvelous in it for a woman of any age. She also gets major brownie points from BB for being daring enough to wear that stylish little bikini.

Among other things, the second story talked about how men felt about a 62 year old woman wearing, and looking great in a bikini. That second story also contained a quote from Joan Collins that totally cracked me up. When the still brilliantly witty, 75 year old Joan Collins as was asked if the age difference between her and her younger husband bothered her, she replied, “If he dies, he dies.” Kudos to Joan for that reply!

It’s comforting to know it is still possible to look sexy at 60, and beyond. It’s good to know men are expanding their horizons concerning women’s ages and sexiness. Sexiness to me, whether it be in men or women, has always been as much about attitude and personality, as physical appearance. I also think we get too hung up on the, “Will someone years younger than me, or years younger than the person in the picture, still find me, him, or her, sexy?” Yes, it’s great that some younger men can still find women 50 and beyond sexy. But when you get right down to it, so what? The real question is, Do you think you’re sexy?

I don’t care how beautiful or handsome a person is, if that person doesn’t think he or she is sexy, then it is going to make it damn hard for others to find him or her sexy once they get past his or her stunning looks. I personally tend to think of myself as more of a funny girl, than a sexy girl. But, I also have enough sense in my little blonde head to know that lots of people find humor very sexy. So by being a funny golden girl, I am also still a sexy girl in the eyes of some. Of course, still having a great pair of legs at age 50 doesn’t hurt either. At least I can always re-cross my legs if the man I’m trying to impress doesn’t like my sense of humor.

Help! I’ve become a RSS Junkie

I have become such a RSS feed junkie, I actually got a free stand alone feed reader called NewsFire that collects all my favorite feeds, and alerts me with a sound and bouncing dock icon when new articles come in on those feeds. I don’t even need to have a browser open to at least keep up with current RSS headlines. Anyone who is on a Mac, and who likes to keep up with various RSS feeds should enjoy using NewsFire. This little program operates with a K.I.S.S. (Keep It Stupidly Simple) interface that I just love.

My ever growing collection of RSS feeds keep me up to date with the latest breaking news stories, pages added to social bookmark sites, new content added to some of my favorite pages, and even new software goodies. One thing I look for now on any page I Stumble Upon as I am Flocking around the net is an RSS feed from it. If it has one, and I really like the page, I add it to my favorites, and my RSS feeds collection.

My long time readers know that I have a weakness for odd news stories. My new penchant for RSS feeds is helping me indulge that old weakness to the max. I like to share some of those odd, and often funny stories with my faithful readers. Sometimes I even find stories that actually manage to touch my stony little heart. I like to share those as well. Which is why I added the, That touched my stony heart category in my handy Collapsable Categories menu. And since I did join the Net Neutrality Movement the other day, I’m thinking of cranking up Alice’s Restaurant later, and making a Net Neutrality Category I can drop stuff related to the movement into.

Anyone who wants to keep up with what is going on in BBs Blog can do so by using the handy dandy Subscribe button in the right hand sidebar of my blog pages. You can also try Clicking Here, or use whatever means you usually do to subscribe to a RSS Feed. Since I am confining my email updates mainly to Weekly Fix reminders, I suggest hardcore fans and stalkers subscribe to the RSS feed so you don’t miss anything going on here. After all, you wouldn’t want to miss seeing a story that touched my stony little heart, now would you?

And after weeks of pulling my hair out and driving myself crazy, I finally managed to figure out how to add a Really Simple Syndicate feed to my main page as well. The RSS feed I created for it with Feeder, is being burned by FeedBurner. To subscribe to that feed, swing by, Musings From The Bottle, or try Clicking Here. Subscribing to my two RSS feeds isn’t going to be as much fun as a secret bath cam feed, but at least hardcore fans and stalkers will be able to keep up with what I want them to know via those two feeds.

I have created a Links Page in Musings From The Bottle that has a few good links in it already, and it will be growing as I continue surfing the net and bookmarking pages that I think others will enjoy. I just added a I Am Woman category I hope women, and men who are trying to figure out what makes us tick will enjoy. The Links Page is one of the pages I will be updating on a regular basis so be sure and subscribe to the RSS Feed for Musings From The Bottle if you want to keep up with what I hope will be some fun and interesting links.

And check out these 5 Secrets To Romantic Happiness :)
