Faerie Magick

Monday night I celebrated the full moon by going outside for a little while and taking some pictures of it.  While photographing the full moon peeking through the tree branches, I decided that it would be coolly creative to hang one of my little faerie figurines from the tree branch, and take a picture of her “dancing” in the moonlight. The little golden thread that she hangs from her usual stand by wasn’t long enough to go around the branch, so I had to find something I could connect to the gold thread, and easily hook around the tree branch.  I had to act quickly though, or the moon would move from the spot I needed it to be in.  In my infinite blonde wisdom I decided a pipe cleaner would work perfectly.  After hooking one end of it through the gold thread and twisting it to secure it, I wrapped the other end around the tree branch. Then I took some pictures of the faerie “dancing” in the moonlight.  Except for the fact the pipe cleaner she is hanging from was visible, I was really pleased with the way the pictures came out.  Fortunately, my GimpShop graphic program allowed me to do a fairly good job of hiding said pipe cleaner.  The finished photo does a pretty good job of creating the illusion that the little ceramic faerie is dancing beneath the full moon that shines so brightly through the tree branches.

The photo represents a little bit of Faerie Magick.  Faerie Magick is a light ethereal magick that lifts the spirit, and lets it take flight on golden wings of creativity.  It gladdens the heart, and inspires the mind.  It is all around us, if we will just take the time to look for it.  You can’t find it though unless you are willing to let go of what we perceive as reality for a few moments, and open your mind and heart to the possibility of it.  If you can do that, then you can find it in the most unlikely places.  The thing with Faerie Magick is, once you do learn to let go and find it in those unlikely places, you will begin to realize that it is also within yourself.  Then you might also begin to realize that along with the magick inside you, is also the gift, or ability if you prefer, to let others experience it in some way.  The stronger the magick grows inside of you, the more you will long to pass it on to others.  Each time you find a way to pass a little bit of it on to others, you will have, for a magick moment in time and space, made the world a little brighter and better place for yourself, and for anyone you passed that little bit of magick on to.

I happen to think that the world needs a lot more Faerie Magick floating around in it.  I am going to do my part to pass on as much of it as I can.  I will do it mostly through my gift with words.  But, sometimes those words might be accompanied by a photo that helps pass that magick on.  Getting in full touch with my Faerie Magick has made me realize just how creative I can sometimes be with photos.  Those who get fully in touch with their own Faerie Magick will begin to realize the many creative ways they can pass it on.  I hope that my photo and words have awakened a little bit of that Faerie Magick in the hearts and minds of those seeing the photo, and reading the words.  If it does do that for you, then please, honor the Faerie Magick by passing it along to someone else.  You can send them this column and photo, or perhaps even create some of your very own Faerie Magick with a photo you take, and/or your own words, or maybe a picture you paint, or a sculpture you create, or some other creative thing that you enjoy doing.  How you pass it on isn’t important.  What is important is that you pass it on.  Doing so will not rob you of any of the magick.   That’s another thing about Faerie Magick, the more you pass it on, the stronger it will grow within you.
